Tyrosine amino acid is important in the production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the human body. It is made by our bodies from phenylalanine, which is an essential amino acid and must be consumed daily. It is converted to DOPA (dihydroxyphenylalanine) and, subsequently, to dopamine. Dopamine plays a part in moodiness, and dopamine deficiency in a specific part of the brain is seen in Parkinson’s disease.
The following foods are high in tyrosine, and foods with the highest amounts of tyrosine are at the top of the list.
